Chapter 3: Experiment

She told me that no one really went by a name. Everyone went by number ID that way there wouldn’t any confusion when it came to duplicate names. She had secretly wanted to go by Margie. That is what I intended on calling her. Being that she was part of this group, that could pass as military or police officers, Margie had access to every building, room, and any other area that might have restriction for regular citizens of Flatonia. Since I was curious about this “paradise” pill. She took me directly to the heart of manufacturing and invention of where it was born.

The room I entered had lab stations everywhere. The lab seemed so spotless even while being used. Everything was white even the workers were dressed in white. The people wore these black goggles that had such a dark tint to it that their eyes were not visible. The goggles had these green lasers on each side of the lenses. Somehow the lasers were holding items for the scientists. It was like a helping hand that somehow took instruction from the individual via telepathy.

As I made my way through the lab I noticed that along the back wall it didn’t have the same work space as the others. The back wall had a station with large computers and with a huge glass window that overlooked a room. It contained a couch and a table. Margie went to explain that the room was used to test the pill and the effects it has. “Paradise” had been around for as long as she could remember and as far she knew there was always experiments to make the session last longer. So far they were only able to get it to last for 2 hours. Fortunately for me I had come at just the right time. There was someone in the experiment room. I couldn’t hear anything that was going on in the room, but I could see that this huge man in some sort of trance. He was swaying to the music that I could not hear. His eyes seemed soft and relaxed as if he was laying on a beach just listening to the waves. I was still confused as to why Margie wouldn’t want to partake in something that I know I personally would love to have in my world.
